ANOTHER WAY TO APPLY COLOR TO AN EMBELLISHED ORNAMENT

There was a lot of chatter today on Sudsol, a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator business website that I’m a member of.  What was the hot topic?  The beautiful card on page 15 of the 2015 Holiday Catalog:

HOW was this card colored?  Is it embossed?  Is it a reflection?  Well, here’s what I did to achieve that look:

I colored the stamp with my Not Quite Navy, Island Indigo and Tempting Turquoise Stampin’ Markers.  The one on the upper left was huffed on (gently blowing my damp breath on the image) and the one on the lower right was spritzed with water before stamping each on Whisper White card stock.  Which method do you prefer?

I also tried two different backgrounds:  The upper one:  direct to paper with the Gold Encore stamp pad.  The one below:  sponged using the same Gold Encore stamp pad.  That was followed stamping the ‘splatter’ from Gorgeous Grunge.

Finally I stamped the holly branch with Old Olive Classic Ink, three times on each side.  I colored the leaves gently with a Blender Pen, pulling the color from the stamped image.  I did NOT fully fill in each leaf with color.

The ornament top was cut out (along with the ornament itself) using the piece from the Delicate Ornament Thinlit Dies.  The greeting, also from the Embellished Ornaments stamp set, was stamped using Crumb Cake Classic Ink and trimmed down to fit in the corner.

I think it’s a beautiful card and it was more or less totally c.a.s.e.d (copy and share everything) from the sample in the Holiday catalog.
