This week at the Mi Wuk Library culminates two weeks of craziness in my neighborhood, aka home. Stamping with my library friends is just so much fun and so de-stressing. It’s not quite relaxing but it sure is rewarding!
This month’s first card is a ‘gate folded’ Thanksgiving card. Rather than the standard fold, these cards were scored at 2-1/8″ and 6-3/8″ using the Simply Scored Scoring Tool, with each side then folded so the ends meet at the center of the card front.
How did I get that measurement? If the card is folded the ‘regular way’, i.e. in half, the card front is 4-1/4″. Since we’re folding in from the sides, divide that 4-1/4″ by 2 and you get 2-1/8″. So, you score at 2-1/8″ on each end of the 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ card stock and it makes neat and perfectly matching folds. It’s so easy to make those score lines when using the Simply Scored Scoring Tool.
How did I get the Designer Series Paper measurement? Each end panel is 2-1/8″ x 5-1/2″. We need a 1/8″ margin on each side, times 2 sides, so………I subtract 1/4″ which equals 1-7/8″. For the height: the card is 5-1/2″ tall, so I subtract 1/4″ and the height is 5-1/4″ So, the two Designer Series panels are 1-7/8″ x 5-1/4″ each.
The Mossy Meadow flap is 3-1/8″ x 2-1/8″. Subtract 1/4″ from each side and the Designer Series Paper piece measures 2-7/8″ x 1-7/8″.
The solid Autumn Wooden Elements were attached with Glue Dots and the open image Elements were attached with t-i-n-y drops of Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive.
Be sure to check out the supply list at the end of this post. By clicking on individual items you will be taken directly to my Stampin’ Up! online store. You can get more product information there or you can purchase your favorite stamps and accessories.
I hope this little measuring tip helps you when it comes to cutting your layers. Enjoy our last Thanksgiving cards for this year. Today I’ll be mailing all of my class cards to friends and family and customers. It sure beats having them sit in a box until next year when Stampin’ Up! will have all new ideas for us! What might be in your mailbox? If it remains empty, remember that I’m sending random cards daily until the end of the year. All you need to do is send me your address (via email) and I’ll send a card to you and your mailbox.
Thanks for stopping by today and have a great weekend. It’s finally rainy here in northern California. Beautiful to see and hear. With our record breaking drought we need every drop we can get. Those of you in the areas of the country who are getting slammed with cold and snow…………it just isn’t fair is it. Good luck to you all.
I’ll be back tomorrow with our second library card. Think winter.
