This card was a bit tricky. I had no idea how I was going to accomplish the ‘window’ when I started. (My inspiration came from a card I saw on Pinterest.) Stamp the 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Whisper White card stock with ‘the herd’ first. (above photo)
TIP: Then lay it over the card front, kind of ‘guesstimating’ where to place the next to smallest circle from the Circle Framelits Collection on the Smoky Slate card front. Remember, the goal is to reveal the little bird that’s sitting on the back of the, ahhhhmmm, musk ox? The hole on this card is just a teensy weensy bit lower than I would have preferred, but it really does work just fine.
After die cutting the hole, run the Whisper White 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of card stock through the Big Shot using the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Then lay it on top of the Smoky Slate card front, open the card to the inside and draw the inside of the already cut circle. Lay the third from the smallest circle from the Circles Framelits Collection on the Whisper White card stock, centering the framelit over the penciled-in circle. Whew, the hard stuff is done. Color in your ‘herd’ as you like using the no-longer-available Blendabilities or Blender Pens or Aqua Painters.
TIP 2: If you are using Blendabilities, be sure to use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. For either the Aqua Painters or Blender Pens use StazOn Jet Black ink.
One thing you can’t see in the photo is the tiny bit of detail I added to the red bird’s eyes: tiny dots of Crystal Effects. I put the Crystal Effects in place with a toothpick that picked the ‘goo’ up from a little puddle on my Grid Paper.
I have several more From the Herd cards to share with you over the next few weeks. I love this set for its attitude and I couldn’t stop with making just today’s card.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and start getting ready for the wearin’ o’ the green in two more days. I look forward to seeing you again tomorrow.
