Masculine Birthday Card using Lovely as a Tree

I try to vary the types of cards I make when stamping with a group.  This month I decided to do a masculine birthday card using Lovely as a Tree for May’s first library project.  There are usually 5-10 participants on the third Thursday of each month and simple works well when passing products around the table.

If we’ll be using the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine, I’ll cut one of the laying pieces and leave another for my ‘students’ to cut.  They really need to experience the WOW of the Big Shot.

Products Used:

I think this is one of the simplest cards I’ve ever made and yet it’s very striking.  Here are the ‘how to’ instructions:

The Chocolate Chip card stock is cut to 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ and scored at 5-1/4″.

The Very Vanilla card stock is cut to 5-1/4″ x 4″ and stamped, using Chocolate Chip Classic Ink and the Hardwood stamp set.

TIP:  Ink up the Hardwood stamp set with Chocolate Chip Classic Ink and lay the large stamp on its back.  Lay the Very Vanilla card stock over the inked stamp, cover it with a piece of scrap paper and then “walk” over the card stock with your finger tips.  Remove the scrap paper and pull the card stock from the stamp. Voila!  Perfectly inked image.

Attach the Very Vanilla layer to the Chocolate Chip card front.

Stamp the oak tree image on a 3″ x 3″ scrap of Very Vanilla card stock; cut it out using the Big Shot and the appropriately sized Stitched Circle die.  Using Chocolate Chip card stock (also 3″ x 3″), die cut the next sized Layering Circle die and the Big Shot, cut out a circle and layer the oak tree on it.  Attach these layers to the card front using Dimensionals.

Stamp the Happy Birthday image using Chocolate Chip ink.

Done.

I hope you love this masculine birthday card using Lovely as a Tree as much as I do.  This is my all-time favorite stamp set and it just seems to go on and on and on in its versatility.  You can purchase any of the items used in today’s card by clicking on the image in the products used photos above.  You’ll be taken directly to my Online Stampin’ Up! store.  Try the Lovely as a Tree stamp set.  It’s a real workhorse.  And it’s so versatile.
