The Wood You Be Mine stamp set was the first set I “fell” for in the 2015 Occasions Catalog. We live in the mountains, logging is a semi-big industry, our property is full of pines, cedars and some oaks so this set seemed to be made for us. My husband’s Valentine this year will definitely be using this set but I haven’t designed it yet.
Even though the main sentiment is geared towards Valentine’s Day, you can certainly use Pierre the Lumberjack (I just asked the guys in the kitchen for a ‘lumberjack-type name’–hence ‘Pierre’) for reasons other than Valentine’s Day. The card below is for a “big brute’s” birthday!
And here’s his brother Bob:
And then there’s cousin Jacques:
And finally, cousin Bruce’s birthday card:
I used half a piece of paper from the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack on each card for variety.
The Starburst Framelit (center ring) is supposed to resemble a saw blade.
These cards are in their cello bags, ready to be placed in the mail for a Sudsol swap. (That’s the online business group of demonstrators-only that I’ve been a part of for well over 10 years.)
I based my second layer of card stock upon the pattern colors of the particular piece of Designer Series Paper used for each card.
Did you wonder how Pierre, Bob, Jacques and Bruce got different colored shirts? This is what I love about this stamp set. There is a two-step stamping piece that can be layered over the basic shirt, giving the plaid different colors. That piece is in the lower right corner below. It’s designed to miss his big bushy beard but totally cover his basic plaid shirt.
Oooops, I left off the Mossy Meadow card stock that was used in the first card!
I hope to have another Wood You Be Mine card to share with you in a day or so. I’m working on it today (Sunday). As I said, I pretty much work in real time despite my best intentions.
Thanks for stopping in today and I hope you’re having an enjoyable Martin Luther King’s birthday three-day weekend. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow.
