Crafting is an instant happy-maker. A little creativity can turn any bad day into a fun one.
Have you ever notice that “so-so, blah, maybe grumpy you” can sit down to make a card or even attend a class, and that, when you’re into the project another “happy you” has slipped into your chair? I have this sense once in a while. I’ve taken a “grumpy, frustrated me” out to my stampin’ studio for a change of scenery and then later brought this quite “charming me” back into the house a few hours later.
Here’s my path……. It starts out with a walk across the deck to the room over our garage. It used to be a bedroom/dorm room for the boys who came up to our cabin for the weekend. Then #1 boy, my son, went off to college and a few years after that got married. Hijack! The room became m-i-n-e. Russ (hubby) and I moved up to the ‘cabin’ permanently and our first project, even before moving up here (to the Sierra Nevada Mountains from Silicon Valley in the San Francisco Bay Area) was to build cabinets into one wall and get new, non-1970s, carpet.
For the first ten years I used two long tables as my work space, the walls were soft yellow and I re-purposed all of the storage units from my stamp room in San Jose. In August of 2015, with my organizing guru daughter’s whip, I gutted the room of everything that had accumulated in there. The room was “M-T”. (as in e-m-p-t-y!). It took 2-1/2 days to empty it and 4 weeks to go through everything and really purge the unnecessary, paint and fluff the room to morph it into my new studio. I know how fortunate I am to have such an awesome, convenient work space.
Finally a painted stampin’ studio, with items very selectively replaced in the room:
And now you know exactly where I go to leave my ‘sad’ and find my almost instant ‘happy’! A little creativity can really turn your attitude and day around.
